Listen to the Siren Song of the Bitches: Coming to a Podcast Near You!

It’s that time of year again—time for we, your humble yet inspiring Bitches, to go on summer vacation.

We have many exciting grandma activities to enjoy during our usual two-week hiatus: gardening, cooking, nature walks, fattening up Kitty’s desperately entitled guinea pigs, grinding the bones of the patriarchy to bake our bread. Big plans, y’all! Big plans!

We know how much you’ll miss us, which is why we want to remind you that this isn’t good-bye, only see-you-later you can soothe your grieving souls by listening to one of our recent appearances on your favorite podcasts. Plus, we have a surprise for you…

You’re heckin’ welcome.

Redefining retirement with Gaby Dunn

We made our podcast debut on Bad With Money with Gaby Dunn. Which was cool because Gaby is not only a queer feminist #influencer who is practically already making Molotov cocktails for the anti-capitalist revolution, but because we basically adore her. Her podcast all but defines big picture financial literacy for Millennials and Gen Z, and has featured bad-ass bitches from Cecile Richards and Suze Orman.

And by the law of correlation, I’m pretty sure that means we are basically Cecile Richards and Suze Orman! Or we’re the giant anime robot of what you get when you combine the two? We’ll get back to you on that.

Gaby had us on to talk about retirement. Not early retirement, mind you, but even getting to retirement at all if you’re young and in debt like most of our generation. Heavy stuff, kids.

Listen here.

Crushing the patriarchy with The Fairer Cents

It’s no secret we have massive girl crushes on Kara Perez and Tanja Hester of The Fairer Cents. What’s not to love? They approach the taboo topics of the money world with fearlessness and no fucks to give for your delicate sensibilities. Plus they do it all to the dulcet tones of the Mysterious Breakmaster Cylinder.

We discussed—what else?—toxic masculinity in the workplace with Tanja and Kara. Our ribaldry earned us an “extra salty” content warning, which we wear as a badge of honor. But more importantly, we talked about what we can do to fix it. Don’t be shocked, but our solutions involved slightly more than “cancel all the men.”

Tune in.

In 1999 with My Millennial Money

My Millennial Money out of Australia was our favorite interview ever, and not just because we made host Glen say “1999” (or, “nointeen nointy noin” in Australian) at least three times. Nay, this was a chance to get messy on the subject of roommates, relationships, and splitting finances. Fam, we spilled all the tea.

We get a lot of questions from international readers about money stuff that has nothing to do with the United States’ economic system. Which is… not really our area of expertise. (And neither is the U.S. economy, for that matter! WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE’RE DOING.) Glen and his team of millennial Aussie money bosses have their shit together though, which is why we recommend them to all our readers, both international and domestic.

Killing the sacred cow of finance with the What’s Up Next podcast

They say there’s no better way to kill a joke than to explain it. Yet when we joined in for a panel discussion on comedy in personal finance on the What’s Up Next podcast, we found that to be far, far from the truth. Hosts Doc G and Paul Thompson let us wax irreverent on gallows humor, laughing to keep from crying, and secretly giving a fuck about the fate of the world.

Turns out humor is pretty essential to discussions of money. And newsflash: we are fucking hilarious don’t even try to deny it. Bonus: my idiot dog makes a guest appearance at the end of the show. He is loud and I don’t know how to mute my mic.

Check it out.

And now, the big reveal…

We’re starting a podcast!

I KNOW, RIGHT?

We’ve been hinting at it for a while, and our Patreon donors actually got to listen to the pilot episode recently. Thanks to their helpful feedback, we’re now just about ready to launch the first season this summer! The official Bitches Get Riches podcast will contain:

  • The answers to burning questions from our valued readers!
  • Wit and wisdom for the ages!
  • Spilled tea, literally and figuratively!
  • Home improvement tips!
  • Original BGR theme song written and performed by yours truly!
  • At least one Harry Potter reference per episode!
  • At least one instance of us forgetting to cut out something we said we’d cut!
  • Special guest stars: the dogs, who seem to know when we are recording, and choose that time to bark, wrestle, and/or loudly lick their thing-dings!
  • And much, much more!

And with that, we leave you for two weeks. Byeeeee!

  1. Woot! I’m so excited to listen. I first found your blog after hearing you on Bad with Money, and your episode with the Fairer Cents is not only one of my favorites but the cause of the very first and only Mrs. Done by Forty spit take. (YOU KNOW THE LINE THAT DID IT.)
